Periods so heavy you plan your month around them. Pain that painkillers barely touch. Cycles that never arrive when they should. Far too many women in Bangladesh are told this is simply how it is.
It usually isn’t. Most gynaecological conditions have a name, a cause and a treatment.
| Condition | Common symptoms |
| Irregular or heavy periods | Unpredictable cycles, flooding, clots, prolonged bleeding, anaemia |
| PCOS | Irregular cycles, acne, excess hair, weight gain, difficulty conceiving |
| Uterine fibroids | Heavy bleeding, pelvic pressure, frequent urination, abdominal swelling |
| Ovarian cysts | Pelvic pain, bloating, pain during intercourse, irregular cycles |
| Endometriosis | Severe period pain, pain during sex, chronic pelvic pain, infertility |
| Pelvic infections | Discharge, pelvic pain, fever, pain on urination |
| Menopause symptoms | Hot flushes, night sweats, mood change, vaginal dryness, sleep problems |
| Prolapse and incontinence | Sensation of something coming down, leakage on coughing or laughing |
| Cervical abnormalities | Often none — which is why screening matters |
A detailed history, an examination appropriate to your problem, and where needed a pelvic ultrasound, blood tests (hormones, thyroid, haemoglobin), a cervical smear, or a diagnostic hysteroscopy or laparoscopy. You will leave with a diagnosis or a clear plan to get one — not a prescription and a shrug.
On privacy and comfort: all examinations are conducted with a female attendant present and full privacy. You may bring a family member. You may decline any part of an examination, and we will explain why we are recommending it before we do it.
